Applicants should hold a PhD in archaeobotany or archaeozoology or a related field, and have a proven track record of scholarly activities, a strong publication output and a history of externally funded research. Knowledge and experience of a range of techniques in the recovery, identification, and analysis of archaeobotanical and/or archaeozoological remains is a prerequisite. We particularly welcome applicants with a demonstrated ability to combine archaeological science with environmental sciences and socio-cultural archaeology.

 

The Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Basel investigates the complex interactions between biosphere, geosphere and anthroposphere, and provides excellent research and teaching conditions in a stimulating and vibrant environment. It maintains a wide range of collaborations with other departments of the University of Basel, as well as national and international networks to other high-profile research institutes.
