Conferences

The Congrèspréhistorique de France has been held every 4 years since 1904 and theproceedings are published by the Société Préhistorique Française.


Since 1984, these conferences are on specific themes, forexample :


1984 :

  • Hunter populations in prehistoric Belgium in their naturalenvironment.
  • Chrono-stratigraphy and cultures of the lower and middlePalaeolithic in north-east Europe.
  • The relations between the continent and the British Isles inthe Bronze Age.


1994 :

  • Leptolithic forms in the north-west Mediterranean :natural and cultural contexts.
  • The Neolithic of the north-west Mediterranean.
  • Settlement, economy and society in the north-westMediterranean in the Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age.

  • Transitions, breaks and continuities in Prehistory(conference at Bordeaux and Les Eyzies).
