The CRC 1266 “Scales of Transformation: Human-Environmental Interaction in Prehistoric and Archaic Societies” takes a long-term perspective, from 15,000 BCE to 1 BCE, investigating processes of transformation across human history, from the late Pleistocene hunter-gatherers to early state-level societies.

 

Job description:

 

The research assistant will conceptualize and publish an anatomy of transformation in close collaboration with the speakers of the CRC 1266. The social, economic, and environmental scientific results regarding transformation processes produced by the CRC1266 must be evaluated, and specified in the resultant framework regarding human-environmental interaction through archaeological and socio-environmental perspectives.  

The research project requires coordination and cooperation with international project partners, as well as close networking within the CRC1266. Furthermore, the results must be presented at conferences and in scientific publications.

 

Recruitment requirements:

 

    Qualifying doctoral degree in the subject of pre- and protohistoric archaeology (science-oriented, environmental archaeology) or a related discipline
    Sound knowledge of the central research aspects of the CRC 1266, especially in the area of socio-ecology and paleo-ecology
    Submission of publications about European subjects with socio-ecological and paleo-ecological perspective, preferably in prehistoric transformation times
    Sound knowledge of European pre- and protohistory (epoch-spanning knowledge)
    Very good knowledge of German and English (level B2)
    Organizational, communicational and team skills as well as an independent, self-reliant work approach
